Some people say life is just a series of coincidences. I don’t believe that for a second—especially when it comes to my husband. Looking back, it feels as if the universe had been nudging us toward each other for years, long before we ever officially met.
I moved to Hove in 2009, completely unaware that my future husband was already there, moving through the same spaces, sharing the same city, and even crossing my path without either of us realising. It wasn’t until December 2019 that we finally met properly, but when we started piecing together our pasts, it became clear that fate had been weaving our story long before we even knew it.
One of the most striking moments was on 17th July 2012. That summer, the UK was buzzing with excitement over the London Olympic Games, and the Olympic torch relay was passing through Brighton and Hove. Thousands of people gathered to watch history in the making. Among those thousands, we were both at the cricket ground, completely unaware of each other’s presence. In that moment, we were just two strangers in the same place, soaking in the same experience—two lives momentarily aligned, but not yet colliding.
But that wasn’t the only time. Over the years, there were so many other moments where our lives seemed to gravitate toward each other. Maybe it was walking past each other on the seafront, unknowingly standing in the same queue at a café, or sharing mutual friends without ever being introduced. It was as if time and circumstance were waiting for the perfect moment to bring us together properly.
And when we finally did meet in 2019, it just felt right. Like every missed moment, every almost-encounter, every twist and turn of life had been leading up to that exact point.
So, do I believe in fate? In destiny? A thousand percent, yes.
Because sometimes, life isn’t about chance—it’s about timing. And when the time is right, everything falls into place exactly as it’s meant to.
